Based
on the idea of the modular "hybrid production" AFB Factory, a complex,
highly automated training factory consisting of a separate parts
handling station and a process technology station was developed for
Siemens I & S in Nuremberg.
The factory is used to prepare
new Siemens employees for the complex industrial environment. In
addition, it is used for special training of employees with several
years’ service.
For Siemens knowledge of part components is not enough; knowledge of context and connections is also required.
This
station represents a complex bottle filling, transportation and
recycling process. The bottles are filled with solids (balls), coloured
liquids, or both. It represents the main topics of automation, such as:
The requirements of the
process industry are reflected in the part of the factory dealing with
processing technology. The standard MPS PA mixing and reactor stations
were modified with Siemens process components and actuated via the PCS 7
process control system.
A special highlight was the customer’s request to develop a complex training unit for controlling product flows in complex pipe systems. The objective of the process control system Route Control is the intelligent switching of product flows, particularly with regard to short cycle times and the lowest possible overlap when switching from one product to another.
At the end of the project Siemens invited the project owners from the Festo Didactic Solution Center and from Adiro to go karting with them – a sign of a very satisfied customer.
